The Wake Up India Foundation, a prominent NGO in Ranchi, took a bold step toward environmental conservation with a week-long awareness campaign—“Clean Ranchi, Green Ranchi.” The initiative aimed to instill a sense of responsibility among residents, urging them to adopt sustainable practices and contribute to a cleaner, greener city.
Throughout the week, our volunteers engaged in a series of on-ground activities, from educating the public to taking direct action for a healthier environment.
Raising Awareness: No Dumping Zones
One of the major issues Ranchi faces is unregulated waste disposal, leading to pollution and unsanitary conditions. To combat this, we:
🛑 Put up “No Dumping Zone” posters at key locations where waste accumulation was a frequent issue.
💬 Engaged with local shopkeepers and residents, urging them to dispose of waste responsibly.
🚮 Encouraged segregation of waste and the importance of recycling to minimize landfill waste.
Greener Schools, Brighter Future
Believing that change begins with the younger generation, we partnered with schools to plant trees and educate students on environmental responsibility:
🌱 Tree Plantation Drives – Students actively participated in planting saplings within their school campuses, fostering a connection with nature.
📢 Interactive Sessions – Our team conducted awareness talks about pollution, climate change, and small everyday actions that can contribute to a greener future.
Street Outreach: Conversations That Matter
To extend the campaign beyond institutions, our volunteers took to the streets to engage with local vendors, commuters, and pedestrians:

🔹 Encouraging sustainable habits like carrying reusable bags, avoiding plastic straws, and properly disposing of garbage.
🔹 Public commitment drives, where individuals pledged to take small but consistent steps toward a cleaner Ranchi.
